We’d like to thank Gordie for his years of service.
- For almost thirty years, Gordie has helped C&W Services succeed by building close-knit relationships with clients.
- Gordie was vital in us winning “Vendor of the Year” in 2016 for our work with a client in Alberta, Canada.
- Gordie has been a champion of new technology and best practices, helping us continually raise the value of facilities services.
This summer, Gordie Sangha, Director of Operations for Western Canada, celebrated 29 years at C&W Services. Gordie first started with the company in July of 1989 as a working lead hand. He was promoted to supervisor a year later and then to assistant operations manager in 1996. In 2002 he was named operations manager, and he has served as our Director of Operations for Western Canada since 2010.
“I always had great opportunities for advancement here at C&W Services,” he says. “I’m very proud to be part of this family. Over the years, I’ve had many success stories—from increasing client and employee retention to maintaining an excellent safety record. Like everyone, I’ve also faced challenges, but I’ve always made a point of learning from them and they’ve made me stronger.”
Looking back at his career, Gordie is proud of the professional relationships that he’s built and continued to foster over the years.
“In 1994 I got married and a lot of my clients came to the wedding. Some of them are still clients today,” he says. “In 1997 my first child was born. As a gift, two of my clients gave me a handmade blanket. I still sometimes visit with those clients, even though they’re no longer in the business. They became part of the family, and I treat them as such.”
This type of client relationship is something that we try to foster with every account, as we’ve found it leads to better collaboration, communication, and a deeper understanding of a client’s specific needs.
Gordie has seen a lot of change over the course of his almost thirty-year career. And he says that his open-mindedness about new technologies and best practices has been a key factor to his continued success, including helping C&W Services win Vendor of the Year in 2016.
“I’ve seen huge changes in facilities technology over the course of my career,” he says. “When I started out everything was done manually. Today, we use smart sensors and efficient cleaning equipment. Some of our Canadian sites have also recently gotten the self-driving floor scrubbers that we’ve been using at Sea-Tac International Airport. Embracing these kinds of innovations is vital to surviving in this industry. We’re always trying to create a better end result.”
