Together, Ruben—account manager—and Brenda—assistant account manager—oversee our janitorial team at a client site in Boston that consists of two large office buildings. For years, they’ve fostered a culture of safety and accountability at the site. In fact, under their tenure, the site has gone over 1,300 days without a safety incident.
Last fall, the unexpected occurred: Ruben and Brenda arrived at the site in the morning and learned that about 45 people who worked in the buildings had called in sick with flu-like symptoms. After consulting with C&W Services management, they decided that an emergency disinfection of the building needed to happen as soon as possible.
“We all sprang into action,” says Brenda. “We learned on Thursday morning that we needed to disinfect the buildings, and by Friday morning we had a plan in front of the client. They signed off, and we started disinfecting on Saturday.”
Given that the client site is about 1,000,000 square feet across two buildings, an all-hands-on-deck approach was needed.
“We brought in two teams on Saturday,” says Ruben. “They worked about 10-hour shifts, and then we all came back on Sunday for another four-hour shift. It was a huge effort—we went office by office, cubicle by cubicle—but we got the job done.”
Due to the janitorial team’s effort, the client site was fully disinfected and ready for use on Monday morning. The client was thrilled with this result: “I just want to formally thank Ruben, Brenda, and the C&W Services team for their efforts in initiating a proactive plan and executing the complete sanitization of our headquarters. On behalf of everyone here, we appreciate the team’s efforts and thank you for your partnership.”
