The holiday season is upon us! It’s the season of giving – and giving back. C&W Services is busy spreading holiday cheer by showing kindness and giving back to our local communities in meaningful ways. We are proud of our teams for making a difference this holiday season.
Kindness Around Every Corner
Every November 13 is known as World Kindness Day, and for one Toronto C&W Services site, kindness is spreading. Teams are encouraged to share how they impact others through the team’s Kindness and Mindfulness Initiative.
Kristina Kostevska, Health & Safety Coordinator, shared,
“I created a unique Kindness and Mindfulness box for people to share their acts of kindness or provide feedback to brighten someone’s day. The act of kindness and mindfulness has a ripple effect.”
Every Good Deed Makes an Impact
According to FeedingAmerica.org, more than 34 million people in the United States, including 9 million children, are food insecure. Every community in the country is home to families who face hunger, but rural communities are hit harder.
At C&W Services, we are especially thankful for our partnerships that impact people’s lives, local communities, and non-profit organizations. To support Evans Home Ahead, a shelter for displaced children, our teams partnered with a regional supermarket chain in Arlington, VA, to hold a food drive, donating over 250 food items to the shelter.

Humbly Serving Others
With around half a million individuals living in a state of homelessness, several C&W Services team members volunteered during the Thanksgiving holiday at the Arlington Life Shelter, where teams prepared and served food to nearly 100 individuals, families, and children in Dallas, TX. The Shelter provides housing, job programs, and transitional services for anyone affected by homelessness in the Dallas community.
Juan Gomez, Senior HR Director, shares his experience.
“I volunteer because I did not grow up with all the necessities. My parents were both immigrants and did everything they could to provide for my brother and sisters. However, we did have community organizations support our family with some needs. I will never forget where I came from and how I really appreciated our community who helped us during tough times. It gives me a sense of pride to represent our organization within the community in which we serve!”
East Region Annual Food Drive
Nearly 7% of all U.S. households used a food pantry in 2020, and more than 53 million people turned to food banks, food pantries, and meal programs for help. C&W Services’ annual East Region Food Drive, held from November through December, encourages teams across the region to collect as many non-perishable food items as possible to help those in local communities. Food is then donated to several food banks and charities:
