Since its founding in 1991, Cara has helped people affected by poverty get and keep quality jobs. They offer a variety of professional training classes and help connect people with both transitional and permanent positions.
We first became involved with Cara through our ongoing relationship with REDF, and we’re pleased to announce that in March 2019 we launched our first C&W Services branded janitorial program for Cara participants.
The first class of participants recently finished the program, and one of them, Hector, is already working at a C&W Services client site in Chicago. He’s Cara’s 167th job placement and the first of what we hope will be many at C&W Services.
“I’m so thankful for this partnership with C&W Services,” said Joe Mutuc, Chief Business Development Officer, Cara Chicago. “It’s elevating our facilities internship to a level it hasn’t achieved in the past. For a lot of our participants, this will be their first professional achievement, and the C&W Services name provides a lot of credibility.”
Participants were equally excited about the training, and were ready to pursue a career in facilities services. “I wouldn’t say this is a dream come true, but it is an answer to my prayers,” says Otha, one of the training participants. “It’s a full-time job, benefits. I can take care of my family. I can take care of myself a little better. And I’m in a position where I can show what I bring to the company.”
